Grinding a Stump Right Against the House

Southeast Houston

The challenge
A stump sat just inches from the siding - too close for most rental-grade grinders to risk without gouging the wall.
How we solved it
Baldemar walked the site, checked clearance and buried lines, then worked the SC362's cutter wheel in tight, controlled passes right up to the structure.
Result
The stump came out completely below grade with the siding untouched - the kind of tight-access job a lot of crews turn down.
Access
Under a foot from the wall
Equipment

Owner-Operated. Commercial Equipment.

I run Quick Stump Grinding myself - when you call, you're talking to the person who shows up and does the work, not a dispatcher.

Every job in our gallery was ground with the same machine: a Vermeer SC362 self-propelled stump grinder, not a rental-counter unit. That's what lets us work tight against fences and siding without guessing.

If you've got a stump anywhere in Southeast Houston, give me a call and I'll tell you straight what it'll take to get it out.

Before You Call, You Probably Want to Know...

Question not here?

How much does stump grinding cost?

Price depends on the stump's diameter, how many stumps you need done, root spread, and how easy it is for the machine to reach it - not a flat rate. Baldemar gives you a free, no-obligation estimate by phone or on-site before any work starts, so you know the price before we grind.

Can you grind a stump close to a fence, a house, or a pool?

Yes - our own job photos show stumps ground tight against a home's siding and inside narrow side yards. We look at clearance and any underground lines before we start so the structure next to it is not damaged.

Is stump grinding messy?

It produces wood chips and sawdust around the stump itself, but the surrounding grass and hardscape are left intact. We can haul the debris away or leave it as mulch, whichever you prefer.

Do I need to be home during the service?

Not necessarily, as long as we can access the stump and you have confirmed the details and price with Baldemar ahead of time. Many customers just point out the stump and go about their day.

Will the stump grow back?

No. Once the stump and root flare are ground below grade, the tree cannot regrow from that stump. Any remaining root fragments deeper in the soil break down naturally over time.

How long does a typical stump grinding job take?

Most single stumps are ground out in well under an hour once we arrive. Larger stumps, multiple stumps, or tight-access jobs take longer - we will give you a realistic time window during your free estimate.
